stationery shopping and things i forgot

bonjour/hola/hallo/hej/salve/hello guys!

So on Tuesday myself and my friend Chloe went to Westfield, Stratford. This was mainly so Chloe could get her winter wardrobe, and some back to school essentials, and as I have recently got clothes, I decided to spend my money on my other great weakness... stationery. I mean, if you want to get technical, I pretty much had to buy it, because school requires you to have equipment and if you are going to buy pens and pencils and all of that jazz, you may as well make sure they look cute!

In preparation for my trip, I packed my new Kanken  full of shopping essentials which included my phone, purse, oyster card, a hoody in case I got cold, some clothes I was returning to forever 21, along with the receipts, my keys, sunglasses and my camera, which I took along as I needed to replace it's batteries.

So once we arrived at Westfield, we returned our clothes and immediately rushed into Smiggle. Smiggle arrived in the UK all the way from Australia in January, and it is one of the cutest/coolest stationery brands out there. I got a set of pastel gel pens, firstly because I needed some nice coloured pens, and secondly, more importantly, they were pastel. Pastel is beyond amazing, and I really love pastel shades, so I fell head over heels for these gel pens, they are also scented, an added bonus. I also got a purple four-colour-pen, as I love only needing to have one pen out at a time, and I liked the fact it was purple, unlike most boring white quad-colour-pens.

We then ended up in Paperchase, and I haven't bought anything from Paperchase in a long time, but me and Chloe got a tad carried away and I came away with sticky notes, and three wonderful pens. I thought the sticky notes were both pretty and practical, and that combo is always a winner for me. They were also reasonably priced, so I bought them, and they look very nice on my desk, I must say.  Onto the pens... the first pen I picked up was the Uniball pen. I have had this pen before, and I love it. It is smooth, pleasant to write with and the ink is fast drying. They are also perfect for doodling with - but shh, don't tell my teachers. Next up is the Gelly Roll pen, which I was drawn to (geddit?) when I saw my friend testing it out. I really liked the colour and when I tried writing with it, it was so smooth and bright I had to buy it, I think this will be my go-to pen if I want to brighten up my books. Finally, I got this small black pen by Pilot. I got this as I love keeping pens in/on(?) my shirt pocket, and this one looked to be the perfect size to just slip onto/into my shirt pocket. I think it is a very practical ballpoint pen, and I thought it would be nice to have around.
The next shop I went into for supplies was Tiger, one of my favourite shops. Think ikea meets poundland, this chain was started in Copenhagen and is simply wonderful. They sell everything you never knew you wanted and some stuff you did, and I loves it. In Tiger I picked up a glue stick, because although I have liquid glue, I was lacking a glue stick, so I thought Tiger would be as good a place as any to pick one up. I also got this really sweet birdy folder, which I think will be perfect for keeping in my bag so I don't have loose sheets floating around everywhere.

Finally, I went to WHSmith's where I picked up a ruler that folds, so it will fit in my pencilcase, a set of four Sharpie highlighters and a purple Paper Mate mechanical pencil. Notice a purple theme going on? I obviously needed a ruler, and I thought the highlighters were nice because they were slim and sleek, different to the usual chunky stout highlighters I normally use, and I also am maybe a tad brand bias. I really liked the pencil, because despite the fact that I despise writing in pencil, we often need to have one, and the lead in this one is quite thick so it is nice to write with, it also has a working rubber, which is an added plus.

So that's it for my stationery haul, but I thought I would throw in this photo of these tiny earrings I forgot to include in my Forever 21 haul -  I also forgot to include my khaki hoodie, but I didn't get a photo of that. But pretty much , I think these earrings are very cute/sassy/me, so I buy'ded them.

That's all for now folks,
Amy xx

FOREVER 21 HAUL yay

Hey - so my clothes came like a week ago, and my friend took some photos for me today of me modelling them so I thought I would do a little post. Just a note: I am returning a couple of items that don't fit me, so I won't be showing them.

I got most of these in the sale, for £1.99 or something similar, but I paid full price for a couple of them, although they were still cheap.

So first off, we have this crochet floaty black top, which I think would look perfect with a bandeau underneath, or a swimming costume. It is really pretty and delicate, and you can also see my shorts which I will talk about next!

So I really love these bohemian/festival style bombshell shorts which I think are very cool and really good for fall. (I know, summer is nearly over, :'( ) The reviews said to get a size up from your usual, but I got my normal size and they were a tad big, so I am not sure what's up with that!

I am also wearing a crop top in the colour 'Tomato Red' which I think fits very nicely and is quite a bright, fun colour.
Finally, I got this striped crop top in burgundy and heather grey, and these casual sweatpants, also in grey, which I cannot find on the website, but I have linked the most similar pair. I like both the crop top and sweatpants because they are both very simple and casual, and are good for lounging around in or if you want to look relaxed.

You may also notice my hair is no longer turquoise/pink/peach/purple and has gone back to it's bleached blonde state. I may cut it off/ dye it brown / leave it, I'm not sure yet.

bleach london, you suck

So without me even washing my hair (because I am a tramp), the 'Gritty in Pink' or 'Slightly unusual faint tones' in my hair, vanished. Like poof. Gone. So a few days ago, whilst dying my friends hair pink with some diluted raspberry pink by live colour xxl, I decided I would put some on my hair. So I grabbed a bit and literally smothered it on the ends of my hair, then washed it off after literally 3 minutes, and to my shock, my hair had been totally dyed, a vibrant, pink.

So my hair is now pink, and maybe I will get round to showing you it soon. Maybe I won't.

Sorry I haven't really been posting, I've been too busy wallowing in self pity and sitting in my bedroom crying because my life sucks. (Possibly slightly exaggerating there).

I will be posting soon though, because I ordered loads of clothes from Forever 21 because I was bored so I will post a haul of those, hopefully.

crates? no, crite. That's the one.

So I haven't posted in, like, ten days (boohoo) which would be okay if I hadn't been looking at other peoples blogs wondering how they couldn't post for six whole days. Such a hypocrite.

Anyway, I dyed my hair today using the Gritty in Pink kit from Bleach London, I still had some turquoise/green in my hair that I hadn't quite managed to wash out so it failed a
little but it will be okay once I dye it again. I hope.

summertime sadness

I am not really happy that school is ending, which sounds crazy (especially as this year hasn't been the best), but I really am reluctant to go into year ten because GCSE's scare me and I had enough stress preparing for my Latin level 1 GCSE, without having multiple to do, and even more to prepare for. I feel like the year has gone too quickly and I am not ready - whatever that means.

I did have a lot of hopes for this summer, it was going to be great and amazing but I don't know if it will. I feel a bit like it will just be me alone in my house being lazy and not productive and failing at whatever teenagers are meant to do to fill their summers.

I plan on reading more because social media has really stopped me reading as much as I used to, ten-year-old Amy was a crazy book lover, who stayed up till 1am reading three books back-to-back.

I plan on doing a lot of things.

I don't really know what I am doing or where I am going with this post, so here are some songs you should check out.

Cold War Kids – Audience Of One
Tegan And Sara – Call It Off
Never Shout Never – cheatercheaterbestfriendeater
Fearless Vampire Killers – Could We Burn, Darling?

we were liars

NOTE: The 100 was not good (in my opinion so I am not going to bother reviewing it).

We
Were
Liars

This book is pretty amazing, I don't really want to tell you anything about it at all because I think it is best if you read it without knowing anything about it. I thought I could share some of my favourite quotes from it with you, though.

sheerhearts:

Be a little kinder than you have to be.

So gorgeous! than you have to be

Another antagonistic quote from We Were Liars.  I don’t really believe in normal.

We Were Liars

Now go and read the book please thank you very much. I really want people to read it. I don't know how I feel about it.

Amy xx

I read Eleanor&Park, it was a bit of a let down but I will still review it.

books i want to read

SO books on Kindle were really cheap today - probably an average of £1.50? So I thought I would buy one. Or three.

I got The 100 which is a dystopian novel about 100 prisoners who are sent back to earth after humans have been living on a space ship style thing for quite some time. I have just started this and it isn't shaping up to be all that good but I will persevere.

Next book is one I am really excited about reading, We Were Liars by E. Lockhart. I am not quite sure what it is about, I have read the first couple of pages, but it is highly recommended and from the first couple of pages I get a good feeling for the book. The style is vaguely similar to More than This, by Patrick Ness, and that was a great book so I am really excited to read this one.

Finally, Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell, this book has been recommended to me several times, and a friend recently read it and enjoyed it. I have read Fangirl, by the same author and thought that was a pleasant read, so I am quite excited for this book too, even if romance is not my forte.

I will maybe-possibly-probably write a review for each one, after I have read them, although that is quite a dedication to make so let's see if I do.

thnks fr th mmrs

(even if they weren't so good)

I took a few photos over the past couple of months and I thought I would share them. They are just me and my friends in the park etc.

This is me on a tree looking very cool (I joke)
I tried to get a photo of my friend Chloe (AKFB) jumping but she jumped a bit late. I think this looks very funny.

This path through the plants was very green and cute.
I miss my brown hair. I dyed it turquoise at the bottom and cut it a little.
 Our shadows looked super cute.
Chloe is a living Coke advert.
There was a double rainbow when I was on the train but only one was clear enough to see on the photo.
Me wearing a stolen flower crown.
I was with Lily (TGWTBC) in Horsham and we found this cute (and empty) playground.
I am really talented at swinging.
Me and Lily (I look gross but meh)
I liked the lighting.

Anyway have a nice day

Amy xx

note: I hope this summer will be amazing. I have this feeling about it. It's going to be really good or mediocre. I want to take lots of photos and make lots of memories and listen to some amazing music and I hope I will have a great time. I'm tired of not enjoying every single day of my life.

do not ever call them ponies

I went to Iceland and it was wonderful. Truly, a beautiful-magical-hobbit-hole-lava-field wonderland. Here are some mobile phone photos, so not the best quality but good enough.
I love this photo of two Icelandic horses, it looks like they are telling/listening to secrets.
It was a place where you could take a picture out of the car window and it would look like it belonged in the national geographic, or on an evian bottle. I took my film camera to Iceland and used about three roles of film on photos of killer whales and horses and beautiful sights so I might upload some of those when they come back, I mailed the film off a couple of days ago so I will get it back soon.
The beaches were fab, you had the black stones/sand and it made everything else even more vibrant and made everything contrast. I loved this black beach, with the bright orange seaweed.
This is me and my horse Simba, who is pictured in the top of this post. He was a wonderful horse, the king of the pack and all the other horses tended to follow him. We went riding twice and both times I was paired up with him, that was great because I loved Simba... or Simpa (?) as the Icelanders call him.

This is me with Teddy, the horse my mum rode. He was slow and safe and very much suited to my mum.

I went riding with Stóri-Kambur who I could not recommend highly enough. The rides were brilliant, the first ride along the beach was totally liberating and we were free to gallop along anywhere we wanted. The second ride through the lava fields, and then down the highway was both fascinating, educational and exhilarating. There is something so smooth and right about horse riding, especially as you get faster.

I would love to return, and plan on going for a month in the summer when I am seventeen to take tourists out on rides. I think it would be wonderful.

I brought my film camera with me, so here are some of the photos I took on that. (The first one was taken by my dad)

packing for italy

I mentioned I am going to Sorrento, and I leave on Wednesday at 2.15 am (killer) so I figured I would schedule this post for then. So as this goes up I will be groggily making my way into a friends car and heading to Italy.

I am packing today (Saturday) and here are some of the things I have packed or need to pack. (It is a four day trip, by the way).

CLOTHES : These are pretty essential unless I want to walk around either a) nude or b) in stinky clothes, so I am packing lots of these. Although luckily they are all hot-weather-clothes so will not take up too much space. (Hand luggage only sadly).

SWIMMING COSTUME: This is something I need. I have outgrown (mentally and physically) last years costumes so I need a new one but it is impossible to find ones that are attractive without being revealing. The struggle is real. I also need to get a microfibre towel that will fit in my bag. I am thinking about this swimming costume, from Fatface, but feel it might be a bit old?

SHOES: I am going to wear my Vans on the plane - these will do for walking up Mt. Vesuvius etc, and will pack my Havaianas as well, for lounging around the pool.

ESSENTIALS: Along with the obvious toiletries I am bringing wipes so I can stay feeling fresh in the heat, and suncream which is mega important if you are as pale as I am and have no capacity to tan, only to burn, also like myself.

ACCESSORIES: My eyes seem to be very sun-sensitive so I am taking my Polaroid Glasses which I love, the lens seems to give everything a instagram-style filter, and colours are brighter, not darker like most sunglasses make them. I am also bringing my floppy hat, which had been with me many places, America, Music Festivals and now Italy.

FOOD: Maybe this has been mentioned but in the eventuality it hasn't, I am a very fussy eater. So upon landing I am going to a supermarket because I will not, without a doubt, eat the hotel provided food. *shivers* But for the journey I have got some special K chocolate biscuit moments and cereal bars, and a weetabix drink, I have no idea if I will like them but it seems like a good idea to have some kind of energy providing food. I am also taking some mini packets of cereal which should be useful.

MUSIC: This is one of the most important parts for me, my headphones and I are inseparable and without music I would not survive the journey. (Slight melodrama). I am downloading all my spotify playlists onto my phone so will be bringing an adaptor to keep my phone charged and will take my headphones. This trip will feature my summer and happy playlist, on which I have songs by:
Half Moon Run
Noah and the Whale
Birdy
Kodaline
Foster the People
and other artist but that's all I can think of right now. I recommend listening to all of the above.

That's pretty much it, I'm sure I've forgotten half of the essentials but that will have to do. So wish me luck on my trip and have a nice time! I won't be, at 2am when this is posted.

poorly written pop songs

So we had this project in music, we were in groups and we had to write and perform a pop song. I guess the only conventions we had to stick to were basic formatting, and we took inspiration from Paramore.

Our song (I wrote most of it - and that's not a good thing, it's really cringey) is untitled, but I guess it would be called Hatred is the New Black.

I don't remember the lyrics exactly, but the gist of it is:

Something's got you down, and you don't wanna get back up,
You refuse all of the help you get, this battle will be lost.

I guess hatred is the new black,
It suits you perfectly,
It looks so goddamn good on you,
It's like your LBD.

You say you're trying hard,
But your trying hard to lose.
Like you're forcing yourself to feel,
Misery and gloom. <--I didn't write that line

I guess hatred is the new black,
It suits you perfectly,
It looks so goddamn good on you,
It's like your LBD.

So why don't you understand,
We're trying to help you, doing the best that we can,
but even our best can't save you,
You've got to save yourself,
If you need some inspiration, then girl,
just look around,
just look around. (Can you smell the cringe? Can you feeeeeel my heart?)

So that's our mega cringe song and I don't quite know why I am sharing this, or whether I will share it, I just felt like it I guess.

Amy xx

Note: I am sure I will regret posting this haha, it is so uber cringey! Just to say, this is not really my kind of song, I prefer more mellow happy/sad songs, and teenage angst isn't really my style, but I guess I am alright at making rhyming lyrics, so this is the end product. Also passive aggressive is my middle name.

return of the mediocre blogger - discussing dedication

I guess I've neglected this blog for a while. I would say I was sorry but I don't think anyone has been eagerly awaiting updates. You see, some people in this world have this thing called dedication, they have work ethic and they are motivated and determined and loads of other things that I am not.

When it comes to school, I just coast and it takes an exceptional teacher to make me actually try (although I don't always like these teachers, I know they are good for me), and I am grateful for them. But I feel bad, really bad, about the fact that I don't put effort in to what I do and I don't have any drive to put any effort in.

I do take pride in some of my work, if I am interested in it, but I don't think the curriculum is really built around my interests so sadly most of my work is half completed rubbish. This blog could be considered half completed rubbish I guess, along with two other blogs I have had, which I also neglected. (This was when I was 10/11 and I really haven't changed).

I guess as an update of sorts I could tell you a few things about my life right now, so here goes nothing/something:
I am now fourteen and will be fifteen in November and I don't really know how I have changed, mentally anyway.
Tomorrow I am going to see War Horse in the theatre and I am excited because I can remember going to see it when I was very young, I sat in the second row and loved it, although that's pretty much all I remember so I guess I will get to relive that seven-year-old experience. Then, next week Wednesday I am going to Italy to the Bay of Naples (sorrento?) with my school on a Latin trip. It is going to be hot and despite sun cream I will burn.
I just did all my end of year exams, I've had a few results back and they are all pretty good, none are exceptional but they are good enough for me. (can you see the lack of motivation here?!?!) Anyway, I liked doing them all in a week, it meant they were all over and done with and I could be less stressed etc. Turns out we are also doing controlled assessments now which sucks, I don't get that because we did all our end of year exams.

I might write a couple more posts and I might post them, I don't know.

For now,
Ciao (that's italian, right? I'm preparing for Italy),
Amy x
